There are no eyes like yours. And there is no cataract procedure like customized laser cataract surgery for your eyes.
Horizon Eye is pleased to offer Alcon’s LenSx laser, a bladeless, computer-controlled laser that allows the surgeon to plan and perform your surgery to exacting, individualized specifications not attainable with other surgical methods.
By adding computer control to key steps of cataract surgery, the LenSx laser ensures the highest-precision surgical incisions. The LenSx laser is unquestionably the most technologically advanced option for cataract patients. As the leaders in the field, Horizon is pleased to announce they are the first surgeons in the Charlotte area able to offer this technology to their patients.
Patients can also opt for cataract surgery with the AcrySof IQ ReSTOR multifocal intraocular lens (IOL). Cataracts are a clouding of your eye’s natural lens that occurs in people ages 55 years and older. In fact, half of all Americans have them or have had cataract surgery by age 80. Cataracts can make sharp objects appear blurry, make colors look dull, and cause trouble seeing at night. The AcrySof IQ ReSTOR lens is implanted in the eye during cataract surgery and replaces your eyes natural lens.
The AcrySof IQ ReSTOR lens is more advanced than traditional IOLs because it is multifocal instead of monofocal. Monofocal lenses, as the name implies, can only give you clear distance vision glasses are still needed to see up close. The AcrySof IQ ReSTOR lens, on the other hand, can give you clear vision at all three distances, from near to far and everywhere in between. This is because it corrects both cataracts and the condition known as presbyopia, which causes many people to need reading glasses as their eyes age. In a clinical trial, after having the AcrySof IQ ReSTOR IOL implanted in both eyes, at 6 months post-op, 78 percent of patients reported not needing glasses.
Treating cataracts and astigmatism simultaneously.
There is more good news Horizon Eye offers another two in one solution. AcrySof IQ Toric IOL treats preexisting astigmatism at the same time it corrects cataracts, so patients don not have to undergo two separate procedures. Patients also enjoy improved quality distance vision.
