We have set up this web page as the main source of up-to-date information on Horizon Eye Care’s response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Please check this page often if you have an upcoming appointment or require any of our services.

  • At Horizon Eye Care, we are committed to providing our patients with the highest quality care, delivered in the safest way possible
  • Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, insurance is now widely covering remote visits with your eye care provider
  • Although some ocular issues are not conducive to remote examinations, a call center representative or the doctor on call will be able to advise you whether a telemedicine exam is appropriate

Due to public health concerns and our commitment to patient, staff, and physician safety, Horizon Eye Care is following all CDC recommendations and is currently only seeing emergent and urgent patients (this includes injections for retina patients). This policy is effective until at least April 5, 2020. We are taking this step out of an abundance of caution not due to any team member testing positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We are an essential service and therefore will remain open to emergent and urgent patients despite the recent “stay-at-home” policy for Mecklenburg County.

A Horizon Eye Care physician will be on-call (24 hours a day and 7 days a week) covering all emergency eye needs. During our normal business hours (Monday-Friday; 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.), we will also have a technician on-call to address emergency eye care needs and medication refills only. Patients with these needs may call 704-365-0555.

Due to our focus on urgent and emergency patients only and our attempt to be mindful of social distancing, we regret that we will not be able to cancel or reschedule any appointments or surgeries or to address any billing needs during this time. We will provide updated information on this web page and will be contacting patients affected by the closure individually.
