Kids

Children typically need glasses for one of two of reasons – strabismus and amblyopia. Strabismus, which may be referred to as “wandering eye,” causes eyes to deviate when looking at an object. Often, strabismus can be corrected with glasses. Amblyopia, also known as “lazy eye,” occurs when one eye does not focus as well as the other. This may be the result of one eye being nearsighted, farsighted or having astigmatism while the other eye is much stronger. The stronger eye ends up taking over in this circumstance. Amblyopia is treated with glasses and eye patches. Children may also need glasses to correct near-sightedness and far-sightedness, due to refractive error.

Kids Optical at Horizon Eye Care

Kids' Glasses

If your child needs glasses, our doctors and optical specialists will help figure out the best option based on his or her needs. We know it can be difficult to get children to wear their glasses or anything else around their face. In response, our optical specialists have carefully selected pediatric products that are comfortable, durable and cute.

Our kids’ glasses start at $99 for frames and polycarbonate prescription lenses.

Two of our more popular brands are Dilli Dalli and Miraflex. These frames start at $129.

We offer other brands who make kids’ frames as well. Of note, My Little Pony, Dora the Explorer, Paw Patrol, Nerf, Nike, Rayban Kids and Polo Kids are carried in our Pediatric Optical department.

Kids' Accessories

We have also chosen accessories to make eye health a bit more enjoyable and glasses less restrictive.

  • Ortopads help make patching fun while treating amblyopia. We offer different sizes for optimal fit. Each variety pack comes with 50 pads.
  • Sports Bands prevent your glasses and sunglasses from slipping or falling off, increasing comfort and decreasing the chances of losing them. The sports bands are elastic, quick-dry and come in many different colors to suit your child’s style preferences.
  • Prescription Swim goggles enable children who wear glasses to see well while swimming. They accommodate pretty much all prescriptions while being leak proof. Prices start at $69.

The damage caused by UV rays culminate over a lifetime. Therefore, it’s important to start protecting children’s eyes from the sun at an early age. Consult our optical staff about the best sunglasses options for your children. We sell both prescription and non-prescription frames.
